Celebrating the life of

Abbie L. DeLoach

February 02, 1994 - April 22, 2015

Abbie L. DeLoach

Our beloved Abbie Lorene DeLoach passed away on April 22, 2015 in Savannah, Georgia.  Born in Savannah, Georgia on February 2, 1994, she is survived by her parents Mrs. Kim DeLoach Mcquaig and Mr. Jimmy DeLoach, Jr., both of Savannah, Georgia, sister, Ms. Anna Elizabeth DeLoach, of Savannah, Georgia, grandmother, Mrs. Naomi Mcquaig, of Alma, Georgia, late grandfather, Dr. James Loren Mcquaig, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Mondell DeLoach, Sr. of Garden City, Georgia, special friend, Taylor Smith, of Elberton, Georgia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Abbie was dearly loved by all those who knew her. A graduate of Savannah Christian Preparatory School in 2012, Abbie was an excellent student and athlete.  During her tenure in high school she lettered in Basketball, Volleyball, and Track.  While her athletic prowess was strong, it was her leadership on the court and as part of the team that made her outstanding.  Dedicated to succeeding in all that she did, Abbie believed in making those around her believe in themselves.

This work ethic continued as Abbie went off to college at Georgia Southern University where she was attending as a junior in the nursing program.  A devoted student and friend, she excelled in her calling as a nurse.  Not only did her love of learning further her studies, it was also her love of the Lord that deepened her satisfaction of serving others. Abbie was a Christian.  She believed and repeated often the verse found in Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”   At the tender age of 21, she knew that her purpose in life was to become a good and faithful servant.  Growing up in a Christian home and as a member of Savannah Christian Church and regular attender of Connections Church in Statesboro, Georgia, Abbie’s deep sense of faith flourished.   It is no wonder that her love of helping others would become her aspiration in a career.

While at GSU, Abbie joined the Kappa Delta Sorority, a legacy she shared with her mother.  Her leadership skills shined amongst this lovely group of women as she was the Recommendation Chairman, a member of the homecoming step team, she played many intramural sports, and was on the championship intramural basketball team for Kappa Delta.

Her sister, Anna, family, sorority sisters, and friends delighted in her ability to light up a room as she was a ray of sunshine to many with her sense of humor and love of life.  Anna, the younger sister, always knew that her older sister was her protector and caretaker no matter where they were or how far apart they lived.  Whether they were watching the movie trilogies that Abbie thoroughly enjoyed or talking with each other in the way that only sisters do, their bond was deep.

Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 11am-12pm, at Savannah Christian Church located at 55 Al Henderson Boulevard, with the service to follow immediately starting at 12pm.  The family will hold a private interment.

Pallbearers are her cousins, Adam DeLoach, Barrett Huff, Andrew Leahy, Christopher Leahy, uncle, Tommy Onorato, and cousin by marriage, Walter Rocker III.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to Georgia Southern University College of Nursing Students Memorial Fund, Georgia Southern Foundation #0985, C/O Ginger Karrh, PO Box 8040, Statesboro, Georgia 30460, phone number 912-478-5253.

Dear DeLoach family..our hearts are breaking for you at this most difficult family time. We lost our precious son, Jason, when he was a student at Young Harris College the spring of 1996. The Lord taught me to be thankful for the 19 years we had been together and I will pray that you will learn with God'shelp to do the same....our cousins all went to the same schools as your lovely daughter and informed us of the loss...we will continue to pray for all of you and God will be with you.....Carroll and Charles Kenney of Proctor, Mt.

With a broken heart, after hearing about the accident on the news, I immediately lifted these families up to the Lord in prayer for comfort, strength and peace. It wasn't until two days later that I was informed that I had been praying for each of you! Now continued prayers are being lifted up with your names to the Throne Room of Heaven! We don't understand what the Lord is up to sometimes but we must Trust In Him With Our Whole Heart And Lean Not On Our Own Understanding, But In All Our Ways Acknowledge Him and He Will Direct Our Paths, Proverbs 3:5-6.

- Lori Stone, Canton, Ga

We were not fortunate to know Abbie personally, yet, we feel that we did. We have known and loved her grandparents, Virginia and Mondale Deloach, for many years. We know how close and loving this entire family is. We are heartbroken for all of you. As parents who also lost a beloved daughter at the age of 21, we know the indescribable pain and grief. We will continue to hold all of you up in prayer as the days go by. There is no peace except in the arms of Jesus. Much love to all. Jimmy & Diane Knight & family

- Knight, Brooklet, Ga

Abbie was such a wonderful, caring, and supportive friend to me and everyone she met. I graduated from Savannah Christian a year after Abbie. Around graduation I was being discouraged to attend my college of choice and follow the career path I wanted to. Abbie believed in me and told me to believe in myself. She told me to work hard and meet my goals. She was such an incredible support to me! I will always remember her and her silly jokes, but moreover I'll remember her ability to empower and uplift those around her. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family in this difficult time.

- Shyam Patel, Savannah , GA

Growing up with the Deloach Family in Garden City as a child & Teenager I know the true character and closeness they share. They are a loving caring family not just of themselves but all those they come into contact with. At Church in the Community or individuals the Deloach Family has always had a strong Faith, sense of giving, and Loving others. This why Abbie will be sorely missed my all. Her gifts would have helped so many. Her family Heritage, her desire to help and love others combined with close personnel Faith would have made a wonderful nurse. It is evident Abbie is loved by many and will be in the future and that is the way it should be in a Christians Life. Because we know this is not the end for Abbie but the beginning of what we all live for as Christians to be with and serve Christ. we all miss people even some that are still alive here on earth but what do we do about it. God loves us and his Greatest Commandment was to Love others as our selves and to Love God with all of our Heart. I am sure this is what Abbie would want us to do! My prayers and Love are with all the Deloach Family! We love you all The Marsh Family.

- ROBERT W. MARSH JR. (ROBBY), RINCON, GA.

Anna, I came to your sisters service today out of respect for your father who recently attended the memorial service for my ex husband's mother Eva Colson. I also wanted to hear what the pastor had to say about such a tragedy. I have a 25 year old daughter who is beautiful inside and out as you and your sister obviously are and just can't imagine the pain of losing her. I just felt the need to tell you what a courageous young woman you are to speak about your sister at her service. And what a blessing it was to those of us who didn't have the pleasure of knowing her to be able to hear your heart felt remarks and share a little bit of your sister with you. She was certainly there with you - infusing her strength and resolution into you. You did her proud and may God bless you and keep your sister - your Guardian Angel Abbie - close by your side.

Abbie was in the Fundamentals class that I taught this semester. She sat right in the front of the class and always had unique insights into the case study scenarios we worked on in class. She was a team member and contributed so well---you could tell she would do well in actual patient care situations. She talked with me one on one a couple of times about future plans and she was so excited about nursing and being the best she could be. Her thoughtful contributions to the class and her enthusiasm for nursing will be sorely missed. The impressions she made on her classmates will remain and will certainly mold and help contribute to the nurses they become. I miss her. I send my prayers to your family at this most difficult time. All our prayers should remind us of the loving and compassionate person that she was. The Bible says "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." I never new Abbie but I came across her beautiful picture and obituary on facebook. I want to tell her family that I am deeply sorry for your loss. This obituary is a beautiful tribute to who Abbie was as a person. I'm amazed at all she had accomplished at such a young age. The most impressive is her love for the Lord and for others. The Romans 8:28 verse just proves that Abbie will continue to change lives on earth long after her passing and glorify her heavenly father even in her passing. God can and does work all things for good for those who love him..even our deepest pain. I see that Abbie has left a legacy of impact on the world around her and to all the lives that were blessed to know her. I'm sure there will be many people who come to know the Lord because of her life and through her death. God bless you all. My heart aches for you. - Abbie's Sister in Christ

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to your entIre family. We do not understand why God allows such tragedy to happen but I do not believe he causes these things to happen. God is a loving God and does no evil. But as long as we live on this earth we will suffer loss. It rains on the just and the unjust. The difference is for Christians we know this is not the end for Abbie but is the beginning and she will be there to greet each and every one of her loved ones when they enter into eternity!

My daughter is a KD sister of Abbie's and she has been greatly affected by this tragedy. She told me what a sweet girl your daughter was to her when GSU lost Michael Gatto at the beginning of the school year (he was a friend of my daughter's), how she brought her ice cream when she went through a break up and was a good friend in a way I will never understand, in a way only sorority sisters know. You must be so proud of her and the woman she had become. My heart breaks for you, I can't even imagine the pain you are in and no words will ease that pain but she is in God's arms now and she will never hurt again. She is safe forever. I will be praying for His healing arms to hold all of your family tightly over the next few months and provide you with some comfort. In His name, Terri

So thankful to hear of her faith in Christ though.

Dear family and friends, I am sorry for the pain you are experiencing as you mourn. I had Abbie in my 1st grade Sunday school class at Savannah Christian Church, years ago. She would bring her little sister, Anna, with her to class. I have a vivid memory of her standing behind Anna, her arms draped around her neck. I pray the Holy Spirit will fill you with comfort.

- Dawn Darley, Savannah, Ga

Don't really know what to say, except so sorry for you loss.

- Tommy&June McDermott, Rincon, Ga

Anna, Kim and Jimmy, We were shocked and saddened by your unexpected loss. You have our deepest sympathy at this very sad time. It is times like this that put our faith to the test. We feel that is why we have to use our faith to see us through the grief and despair that comes with tragedy. We think Abbie would want us to keep her memory alive in expressing our faith. All our prayers should remind us of the loving and compassionate person that she was. The Bible says "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." We pray that God will bless you and give you the strength to get through this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you. In Faith & Sympathy, The Davis Family xoxoxo

This is not our final home and you will see her again. God bless!

I never new Abbie but I came across her beautiful picture and obituary on facebook.

- Merle Brannen, Pembroke, Georgia

Hello, I did not know Abbie, but I want to share my condolences to the family. I am praying the Lord will comfort the family's hearts. So sorry to hear about this. So thankful to hear of her faith in Christ though. "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:15 Sincerely, Jasmine Agyemang
